There are also ways to recieve RSS feeds with your IM tool. E.g. Miranda has a plugin for getting RSS feeds, probably also other IM have such a possibility or addon.

Thanks for this post 1. yes I agree too, feedly is cool 2. Is there still a need for a desktop agregator now that google reader can be use offline (thanks to google gears) ? I doubt it
